§ 55-4. Greenfield Cemetery regulations.

  • A. 
    Speed limits. Persons operating motor vehicles within the grounds of Greenfield Cemetery shall observe a fifteen-mile-per-hour maximum speed limit.
    B. 
    On Memorial Day of each year, motor vehicles shall not be permitted within the grounds of Greenfield Cemetery before 1:00 p.m. unless permission for the entry of a motor vehicle is obtained from the Director.
    C. 
    Pedestrian travel within the cemetery. Except when it is necessary to walk across a lot, all persons within the cemetery grounds shall use only the roads, avenues, walks and paths established and maintained by the cemetery.
    D. 
    No truck, cart or other commercial vehicle shall be permitted within the grounds of the cemetery except when such vehicle is used in the conduct of official business with the Division of Cemeteries.
    E. 
    Interments will not be made on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. Interment will not be made on Sunday unless the Director shall determine that it is necessary on a religious or emergency basis.

    F. 
    Hours of interments shall be as follows:
    (1) 
    Weekdays, Monday to Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
    (2) 
    Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
    (3) 
    Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Washington's Birthday, Election Day and Columbus Day: 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
    (4) 
    Sundays: as determined by the Director.

    G. 
    The following are strictly prohibited within cemetery grounds:
    (1) 
    Dogs.
    (2) 
    Children under 12 years of age unless accompanied by parents or adult guardian.
    (3) 
    Conduct which would result in damage to cemetery property.
    (4) 
    Picking of flowers or breaking or damaging trees, shrubs or plants.
    (5) 
    Soliciting business of any kind or soliciting contracts or orders for monuments, headstones or any other work.
    (6) 
    Signs, notices or advertisements of contractors, stonecutters, undertakers or others.
    (7) 
    Selling refreshments of any kind.
    (8) 
    Discarding of wastepaper, flowers, plants or any other waste articles except by depositing the same in receptacles situated within the cemetery for that purpose.
    H. 
    Any person disturbing the quiet of the cemetery shall be dealt with according to law.
    I. 
    When requested, persons having baskets or parcels shall submit them to the inspection of the Director or his representative.
